We are advising students to exercise caution when leaving their bags outside of the library, especially in the library foyer. This comes after reliable sources have informed us that a number of bag thefts have occurred from that area.
These same sources have told us that no less than 5 bags were stolen last Friday; one of which was found in a dustbin later on in the day.
This has re-raised issues among students, who are wondering why they are forced to leave their bags outside of the library each time they enter; something which is unlike the system used in University Libraries in countries such as the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Whilst we are sure that the library authorities are doing all they can, till the perpetrators are caught though, we’d recommend that you take care of your valuables whilst you are studying in the library and not keep them in your bags downstairs.
