It’s been a long campaign. First, Pulse announced that they would not be contesting the KSU elections, citing a re-structuring process within the organisation as the main reason. SDM’s candidate were launched some weeks later; with Robert Napier leading the team as the candidate for President. It was initially thought that SDM’s team would be uncontested; but it soon became known that there would be an independent candidate running for election; Nicholas Martinelli.
As a result, an election had to take place for the post of Culture & Entertainment Officer between Harley Mallia from SDM and Martinelli. That election took place today across all of the University of Malta’s campuses.
The voting turnout is that of 1189; a large decrease from the turnout of last election – which stood at 3855 students. From that turnout, around 200 of which voted from Junior College. The final results for the election, are as follows:
Harley Mallia: 797
Nicholas Martinelli: 366
With that news, it means that Harley Mallia has been elected to form part of the new KSU Exec Board.
