A year of work by the current KSU Executive comes to an end today, during the student council’s Annual General Meeting. With an election campaign currently ongoing, the spotlight is now on KSU more than ever, with everyone waiting to see if the student council fulfilled all of their promises during their term in office.
During today’s AGM we will also have a confirmed list of candidates for the new KSU Executive and also an official date. So far, both SDM and Pulse have fielded a full complement of 11 candidates, whilst Kris Bajada is contesting as an independent candidate for the role of President. Another snippet of info that will be confirmed during the AGM, is for which roles each Pulse candidate will be contesting. SDM announced each candidate’s designated role on Monday, however from Pulse’s said, all that is confirmed is that Jean Claude Scicluna will be running for the role of President.
Something else that will be decided today is the voting method of the upcoming elections. In the past couple of days, Dario Cacopardo and Nathaniel Falzon announced that they had submitted 14 amendments to Section 6 of KSU’s statute, amendments which, if passed, will change the voting system from the traditional ballot method, to one which is based online.
All in all, it should prove to be an interesting and lively AGM, and Albert Galea, Jill Mallia and Julia Cini are reporting live from Sir Temi Zammit Hall on behalf of The Yuppie, with minute by minute updates for you.
